Military Pentathlon Regulations 2001

Implementation of the Provisional Edition

I got the approval from the CISM General Secretariat to have the amended regulations distributed finally. However, CISM is in the process of changing the basic CISM Regulations of Procedure. This procedure is not yet finalised. This will compel the PTC MilPent to change some paras in Part A and B and a lot of cross references as soon as the CISM regulations will be approved.

This means that the CISM General Secretariat will only produce our regulations as a booklet when CISM has changed the CISM Regulations of Procedure. Not to have a further delay and to ensure certainty regarding the obstacle dimensions the PTC will not wait with the delivery of the MilPent regulations till CISM has finalised its work.

The regulations may be downloaded from the download section of our webpage. Paper copies will be sent to that delegations only that have not provided me with an e-mail address!!!

The main changes are as follows:

Part A:

  • Qualification for newcomer nations

  • Competition schedule

  • Introduction of the Military Pentathlon Identification Number (MilPIN)

  • Disciplinary matters

  • Athletes council

  • New cups and new statutes

  • Updating of annexes

Part B:

  • New system for establishing the ranking list: it is now a list including the best performance covering the whole season.

  • Checking in procedure at the arrival: team captains must announce the starting sequence of their competitors for shooting and throwing at the check in already.
This will allow the establishment of the starting lists much earlier than up to now, most likely for the training already.

  • Clarification regarding penalties in all disciplines and for dress regulations

  • Shooting: safety regulations

  • Obstacle run: The standardisation of the obstacles with a higher degree of precision.
Old obstacle courses may remain. If some dimensions do not meet the new requirements the organiser of a world championship has to inform the PTC beforehand.
The PTC will decide according Part A Exceptions.

  • Obstacle swimming: standardisation of the obstacles; further clarification of the starting procedure.

  • Throwing: all competitors of the same heat will be started at the same time with one central starting signal (as already done in Holstebro).
    Weight of projectiles.

  • Obstacle relay: clarification regarding the starting sequences.

There will be no changes in 2001 for shooting and throwing times!

Delegations are requested to brief their competitors in due course.
The 2001 Regional championships will be organised according the new regulations already!
